Sister-brother team, author Kate Bernheimer and architect Andrew Bernheimer began collaborating in 2011 on a series for Places Journal that explores the intersection of fairy tales and architecture. In it, "diverse architects have selected favorite tales and produced works exploring the intimate relationship between the domestic structures of fairy tales and the imaginative realm of architecture."
This series, which began in 2011, predates the Blank Space Fairy Tales Architecture Competition, which began in 2015 and was the subject of a previous blog entry on Fairy Tales Explored. These two recent architectural celebrations of fairy tales disprove stereotypes about fairy tales being a thing of the past, and they show how the influence of fairy tales extends to every kind of artistic expression.
