Librarian and researcher Heidi Anne Heiner began her SurLaLune Fairy Tales project when she was a graduate student at the University of Tennessee. Twenty years later, it has grown to include nearly 50 annotated fairy tales, and for each tale, Heiner includes versions from across time and around the world. For example, her "Cinderella" entry features the Charles Perrault version from the 17th century (which was Disney’s main source), and she lists almost 60 similar tales across cultures and links to online versions of the tale from China to Bulgaria to Armenia.
